How soon should I book my wedding or celebration cake?

Our availability fills up quickly, so we recommend reserving your date as early as possible. For weddings, we suggest booking at least 6 months in advance after you have secured your venue. For other celebrations, a minimum of 2 months advance booking is recommended.

Will you deliver to my event?

Yes, we offer delivery in Massachusetts (Southeast South Shore, Cape Cod, and Boston), and Rhode Island (Providence, Newport, Bristol, and Kent counties).

What are your store hours?

At our bakery, we specialize in freshly baked, made-to-order cakes and confections. Currently, as we are not a storefront bakery, we do not have regular hours for walk-in purchases at this time. Instead, all orders are pre-ordered in advance, and the address for pick ups will be given at the time of placing an order. This allows us the necessary time to focus on each order individually and ensure the highest quality for our clients.

How Can I inquire/request a quote?

How quickly can I expect a response?

HOW MANY SERVINGS DO I NEED?

The number of servings depends on several factors, including the presence of other desserts, whether there's a groom's cake (if it's a wedding), the reception style (sit-down or buffet), and how the cake is sliced. During your consultation, we'll discuss your specific needs to determine the perfect amount for your celebration.

Do you provide fresh flowers?

No, we do not. If your cake design includes fresh flowers, please coordinate with your florist or supplier to set aside the necessary flowers for us to add to your cake at the venue site.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES "CUSTOM" MEAN?

At DHD, 'custom' goes beyond design. It's about our commitment to detail and using premium ingredients. Unlike mass-produced cakes and sweets, each of our cakes and confections is lovingly handcrafted. We avoid pre-made mixes or synthetic fillings, prioritizing quality and freshness in every bite.

What is the difference between custom cakes and ordering a cake online?

The main difference is that custom cakes offer greater flexibility in flavor, size, shape, and design, and allow you to choose your preferred delivery date. Our online options, such as flat rate and designer cakes, have fixed flavors and limited customization, with delivery and pickup available only on Tuesdays and Fridays.

WHAT DIETARY ACCOMODATIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

How does delivery work for online orders?

For online orders, we deliver locally in the Massachusetts Southeast/ South Shore area on Tuesdays and Fridays. To secure your spot on our production calendar, orders must be placed online at least 3 days in advance.

How does pickup work for online orders?

For online orders we offer a pickup option at no cost. Pickup days are the same as delivery days, Tuesdays and Fridays. Once you place your order online you will receive an email within 24 hours with time and location details. Pickup location only in Massachusetts. All orders must be placed at least 3 days in advance.

If I live outside of Massachusetts, can I still order something last-minute online?

Sure! If you can visit our South Shore pickup location in Massachusetts, you're welcome to order online.

Do you ship your cakes?

Sorry, we currently do not offer shipping, but we may consider it in the future.

What if I need to cancel my online order?

No, our signature Swiss meringue buttercream (SMB) is not like meringue pie. It gets its name from the meringue-based technique used to make it. Our SMB has an airy, light, whipped cream-like taste and texture that is not too sweet. We're confident you'll love it!

Fondant is a pliable icing used for cake sculpting and achieving a smooth finish. It's often described as a sweet, chewy version of marshmallow. If your cake has fondant and you're concerned guests won’t enjoy the taste, it's easy to peel off and savor the buttercream underneath.
